What in your life might you like to finish?

I have a pastel drawing I started featuring my deceased grandmother and my son as a toddler. I really, really want to finish that.

What's the most useful class you've ever taken?

My flute lessons. During the very first one, it was as if a door opened. To master something in life is a powerful thing, it is actually an experience of mastering oneself. And I have found that this experience of self-mastery can be transfered to other spheres over and over and over again. What a gift--music and self-discipline. Thank goodness for my teacher.

If you could be another age for a day, what would you pick?

I think 17. I had some heartache back then, but I was strong, a master of something, and, best of all, could feel God inside me as a nearly physical presence--sense of humor, answers, guidance, light. I'd like that again. Maybe a future age where I had this again!
